I don’t get bored very often anymore. I’m a busy person, weekdays and weekends, and although I’m on the computer for what seems like endless hours every day, I’m not doing much in the way of “playing.”
So I’m not sure how it happened that I set up this new blog earlier today.
I have a blog already. I’ve had that blog since early 2005. But I haven’t updated it regularly for at least a year, and the last time I wrote anything on it was something like seven months ago. So what the hell am I doing starting another blog now? Especially when I’m busier now than I’ve ever been in my life?
Truthfully, the biggest reason I started this blog today was because the old blog was on Blogger and I wanted to try WordPress. WordPress is what I use at work for almost everything I do, and I’ve come to really appreciate how great it is to use. So I wanted to play with a blog on WP.
But rather than just move my old blog’s contents to this new space, I’m also starting fresh – and that’s because I started that blog long before I was a travel writer, long before anyone other than my friends and family were paying attention to anything I wrote. Which means there’s stuff on that blog that’s more personal than I’d probably write now if I were starting over.
Which is, I suppose, what I’m doing – starting over.
I don’t know yet what’s going to go on this blog, since I write all day long (and often about things that are near and dear to my heart), and I don’t know how often I’ll even post here. But I guess I’ll never know if I don’t try, so – as the Italians say – vediamo.
